The best way to gain back control of your drinking is to stop trying to quit drinking.
What? You may be thinking that my advice doesn’t make sense – but hear me out.
The most effective way to take back control your of drinking is to change your mindset around alcohol not to constantly try (and fail) to cut back or stop.
How does it work?
When you’re trying to cut back on how much you drink, or taking a break from alcohol, all your energy and thoughts are spent on convincing yourself that you must not drink or at least not drink so much.
When you’re approaching it in that way you’re using willpower and when you eventually succumb to the cravings (which you no doubt will), you’ll blame yourself and be less confident about getting things back under control.
It can be exhausting and demoralising.
However, when you stop trying to cut back and instead work on your mindset, you have a much better chance of success.
It’s only by working through the thoughts and beliefs you have around drinking that you can make lasting change.
It sounds complicated but it really isn’t. When I use this approach with clients it’s surprising how quickly their views around drinking change.
They can get back to a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ relationship with alcohol that so many of them have spent years trying to achieve.
How can I be so confident about this?
Because I know it works.
It’s the way that I gained back control of my drinking and I’ve seen similar success with my clients.
And the method that I use – the This Naked Mind approach – has achieved amazing results across the globe.*
Don’t just take my word for it
Here’s a testimonial from one of my clients who successfully changed her relationship with alcohol.
“I’m really grateful for the coaching which has focussed my attention and placed me firmly on the path to change. I’m doing ridiculously well and don’t really understand why it’s so easy this time round.”
